What I’m Watching
Name of Show: Succession
Brief Overview: This show is about a family fighting for power amongst the siblings when the patriarch falls ill. So much backstabbing.

When I speak of support systems, I’m speaking of both in person support systems such as your family and friends and support groups and online. For me, I was able to make friends that I have been able to grow with and keep in touch with over the years. Thankfully, with the growth of technology I’ve been able to gain and maintain relationships.
I joined Instagram 2 years ago and discovered the different community of people who held like interest as me. And I was able to connect with people who were interested in writing, mental health and loss of parents. Although I was late to Instagram I was familiar with Myspace and Facebook, but social media has one thing that I’m not good at. It requires the user to consistently be committed to it. Which I am not. I lack consistency, but being that people are becoming more and more addicted to social media I take my breaks in order to live my life and reflect.
Some people find it difficult to create and build relationships in real life so being able to find social connection online is a great opportunity for some. Imagine the young adult who plays online video games all the time but has not in person friends. That young adult may have found their support system online and for them that is enough. Not everyone finds support in their family, thankfully for me I do. I have a small circle of family and friends who are like my family as a support system. And your support system provides a level of comfort and safety that you can’t provide for yourself at times.
When you’re having a low day with whatever you’re going through you can reach out to people in your support system and get a pick me up. “Finding your tribe” as they call it has changed especially with the pandalabra(Covid Pandemic) people are looking to Zoom, FaceTime and other social platforms for CONNECTION and SUPPORT.
It’s important to have some social interaction and support and here are some ways to do so:
1. Look to your family.
2. Look to your friends
3. Look to online places like: (The list below can become a toxic environment so please use them wisely and take breaks from them as needed.)
a. Instagram
b. Facebook
c. Twitter
d. Online support groups
4. Find communities or place with your interest and talk to people about your common interest
I’m grateful for my support system!
When you learn how much you’re worth, you’ll stop giving people discounts.
